DIY DINING TABLE MAKEOVER

MATERIALS USED:

  • HEAVY GRIT SANDPAPER (available on paint and hardware stores)
  • MARBLE EFFECT CONTACT PAPER
  • BRIGHTO ALL WOOD COAT PAINT
  • TIMBER COAT CLEAR WOOD LAQUER
  • FOAM 3 INCH FOR SEAT LAYERING
  • FABRIC FOR SEATS

METHOD:

  1. THIS IS A FAMOUS VICTORIAN STYLE TABLE BASE .ONE OF THE MOST TRENDY DESIGNS TILL DATE . THE TOP YOU SEE AS IN THE BEFORE PIC IS A 1 INCH FIBER BOARD SHEET OF 4 BY 8 FEET. THE TABLE WAS BEING USED TO PLAY TABLE TENNIS OR AS A STORAGE TABLE IN THE STORE ROOM.THE CHAIRS STRUCTURE I GOT FROM THE FURNITURE MARKET. THE FIRST STEP WAS TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE TABLE.
  2. I REMOVED THE TOP BOARD SHEET AND CLEANED THE TOP AND THE INNER FRAME AND LEGS WITH SOAP WATER CLOTH IN A DAMP STATE. REMEMBER I SAID DAMP CLOTH YOU CANT WASH IT .
  3. NEXT CAME THE DIFFICULT PART THAT IS SANDING DOWN THE ENTIRE THING I.E THE TOP, BASE AND THE RAW CHAIRS. IT TAKES A LOT OF PATIENCE IF YOU ARE DOING WITH THE SAND PAPER AND YOUR HANDS. IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET I WOULD RECOMMEND TO BUY A SANDING MACHINE. SAVES A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY.
  4. ONCE EVERY AREA HAS BEEN SANDED WIPE THE TOP AND BASE WITH A DAMP CLOTH AGAIN TO REMOVE ALL DUST PARTICLES.
  5. FOR THE LEGS AND ALL THE 8 CHAIRS I USED ALL WOOD COAT PAINT. I LET THE FIRST COAT DRY AND THEN DID ANOTHER COAT. SO TWO COATS IN TOTAL.
  6. FOR THE TOP I APPLIED THIS REALLY COOL MARBLE THEME CONTACT PAPER WHICH IS EASILY AVAILABLE ONLINE. FOR NEATNESS YOU NEED TO BE PATIENT AND USE A FLAT PLASTIC SCALE OR ANYTHING OF THAT SORT TO KEEP EASING THE CREASES IF THERE ARE ANY COMING. THE TABLE TOP EDGES I PAINTED WHITE.
  7. LASTLY I APPLIED A WATERPROOF SEALANT TO PROTECT IT FROM WATER SPILLING AND FOOD STAINS .
  8. A 3 INCH FOAM LAYER WAS USED FOR THE CHAIR BASE AND THIS RED MOTIF CLOTH I BOUGHT FROM A DRAPERY SHOP A FEW YEARS BACK SO FINALLY USED IT HERE 🙂
  9. THE DINING TABLE MAKE OVER COMES TO AN END .
  10. LEAVE YOUR MESSAGES AND REVIEWS BELOW SO I KNOW HOW YOU LIKE IT .
